General information: 20% of all Turkish wine is produced in Thrace or the Marmara region, in the north-west of the country in its European part. Both native and international wine grape varieties are grown here. Thrace is home to small and medium-sized boutique wineries producing premium wines, as well as one of the large Turkish producers, Doluca (production volume - 14 million bottles per year).
Description: Thracian culture is one of the oldest wine-making cultures in the world. From the Homer and Herodotus it is known that the Thracians were skilled winemakers and producers of legendary wines. Thrace is associated with the appearance of the god of wine Zagreus, who later was reborn as Dionysus. Since 1923, Thrace has been divided between Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey, along with Turkey's largest city, Istanbul. On the Thracian Wine Route, in the geographical center of Thrace, is the city of Edirne (historic Adrianople), founded by the Romans, the former capital of the Ottoman Empire, an ancient city with Sultan mosques, Ottoman palaces, neoclassical architecture, bazaars, historical bridges and houses and unique medical museum of Sultan Bayezid II.
In the early 2000s, a new stage in the development of winemaking began in Thrace. The Thrace Wine Roads bring together elite wine producers located in the areas of Kirklareli, Tekirdag, Sarkoy and Gelibolu. Scenic routes pass through mountains, forests, coastal plains, surrounded by three seas: Marmara, Aegean and Black.
The main air hubs in the region are Istanbul airports: Istanbul IST and Sabiha Gokcen (SAW). The start of the wine route is about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the airport.

10:00 Arrival at Chateau Nuzun. Tekirdag wine region.
Winery tour and tasting at the boutique winery Chateau Nuzun .
Overlooking rolling hills and vineyards, this organic winery ages its wines in French oak barrels. Wines: Chateau Nuzun Rose, Red Blend, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot-Syrah-Pinot Noir Red Blend.
11:40 Transfer to the winery İrem Çamlica BAĞCILIK VE ŞARAPÇILIK (Chamlija). Kirklareli wine region. The most famous winery of Kirklareli. The wines are aged in oak barrels. You can try wine from the oldest ancient Thracian grape variety - Papaskarasi.
12:30 -14:30 Winery tour and tasting. Lunch at the Çamlıca Şarapları restaurant.
Wines: Narince, Chamlija Quartz Fumé (100% Sauvignon Blanc, matured in French oak for 10 months), Chamlija Papaskarasi, Chamlija Cabernet Franc, Chamlija Thracian 2013 (One of the best wines in the Chamlija portfolio in French new oak).

Arcadia Winery grows 11 grape varieties, some of which are unique to Turkey, like Sauvignon Gris. The wines are consistently good.

Complex of Sultan Bayezid II, Medical Museum and Mosque of Sultan Bayezid II, Yuch Sherefeli Mosque (3-balcony mosque), Selimiye Camii complex, consisting of small mosques, two Islamic schools and a market hall, walks along small streets with ancient kervanserai and bazaars .

14:30 -15:40 Transfer to the Vino Dessera winery (Dessera Bag Evi). Wine region Kirklareli.
15:40 -17:40 Wine tour and tasting with gastronomic accompaniment at the Vino Dessera winery. The winery produces a wide range of wines: white, red, rose. The winery pays special attention to strict control of fermentation and produces very rich, full-bodied and balanced wines. Dessera Cabernet Franc is considered an outstanding wine.
Wines: 190 Red Blend, in Amoris, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Purnéche, Entrique, Okuzgozu and Petit Verdot. (total 23 titles)

Barbare Bağları uses biodynamic approaches. The winery has 27 awards at prestigious international competitions. The wine estate offers breathtaking views of the sea.

Chateau Kalpak is gravity winery. The unique vineyard terroir reflects the deep taste and aroma of each grape variety. Only two blends are released annually: Ch Kalpak and BBK. The grapes are harvested in small quantities from each hectare. The wine is brought to full aging in barrels. The winery has 6 gold and 3 silver medals, and is the only Turkish winery to have the maximum (three stars) AWC Vienna rating.
Wines: Kirmizi Sek Şarap, BBK, Cabernet Franc - Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Clos Arapli Cabernet Sauvignon – Merlot, Clos Arapli Merlot.

The winery and wine cellar were built using local stone, which naturally regulates humidity and temperature. This architectural design allows wines to be produced using the gravity method. Winemakers use Bordeaux chateau technologies. Vineyards are overlooking the Aegean Sea to the west and the Marmara Sea to the east.
