General information: Derbent is the southernmost city in Russia and one of the oldest cities in the world. The climate is affected by the warm Caspian Sea, which makes autumn long and warm. Winters are mild, there are practically no sub-zero temperatures. Summer is long and hot. The wines of the Derbent Terroir are distinguished by a clean and transparent color, exquisite aromas and a delicious palette of taste shades.
Derbent district is one of the oldest wine-growing region of the world. The oldest grape culture found in the Derbent region is 2000 years old. Modern Derbent was founded in 438. Viticulture and winemaking has always been an important industry in this generous land. The care of the vine "in the blood" of local peoples, the traditions and skills of viticulture and winemaking here go to an incomprehensible depth of centuries. The flagships of viticulture and winemaking - Derbent sparkling wine factory and Derbent cognac factory - have been producing famous sparkling and still wines, as well as excellent cognacs, for a century and a half. Both are full-cycle enterprises, from growing grapes in their own vineyards to producing finished products. Enterprises introduce new technologies and revive the vineyards of historical terroirs and create wines and brandies recognized by the most demanding experts.

Day 1 - Thursday.
Arrival in Derbent.
Greet and meet at Makhachkala city airport (MCX) or Derbent city railway station.
Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 - Friday.
Breakfast in the hotel.
The visit to the Naryn-Kala citadel: the Derbent fortress complex with massive walls three meters thick, which has been performing defensive functions for 1,500 years.
Overview of the fortress walls, towers, bastions, gates. Naryn-Kala Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sightseeing tour of the upper and middle city: the Magal, the one of the oldest mosque -Juma, a Madrassah, the Carpet museum, the world culture museum, girl's baths, the Armenian Church in Shakhristan.
Lunch at the gastronomic restaurant.
Visit to the Derbent sparkling wine factory. Winery tours and tasting of still and sparkling wines.
The winery is over 100 years old. Here, a full production cycle is carried out from grape processing to final products. The Derbent sparkling wine factory has its own vineyards. Quiet and sparkling wines are purchased by Italy and other wine countries!

Day 3 - Saturday.

A trip to the picturesque village of Rukel. Rukel is the historic village with a traditional lifestyle.
Rukel village is located on the slope of Mount Dzhalgan, 28 km south of the Derbent city.
Lunch at the restaurant with local cuisine.
Visit to the Derbent Cognac Factory. The Factory was founded in 1861. Today it is a modern full-cycle enterprise - from grape growing to cognac making. The Derbent Cognac Factory has about 250 awards received at international competitions. Factory tours and cognac and wine tasting.
Gastronomic dinner.

Day 4 - Sunday.
Breakfast in the hotel.
Guided tour through the lower city: the old train station, the gates of Dubara Kapa, the house of the Emperor Peter I, the Totubike mausoleum and a visit to the central Derbent bazaar in Shakhristan.

Transfer to Derbent train station or to Makhachkala airport for flights departing 18:55 and later
